HomeCookRecipes was created as a place for traveling health care professionals to post recipes from the areas of the country they visit. Employees at RNNetwork produced a cookbook in June of 2008, comprised of home-spun recipes and family traditions of its employees. Word traveled throughout the company; soon the clients of RN Network and employees of CHG’s other brands alike wanted to participate in a new edition. CHG decided the best way to make this possible would be to use a blog, which allows frequent updates, interaction, and feedback.

About The Author: Justin Crawmer
I started to develop a love for cooking as a teenager. I worked for a catering company in Bloomington, IN when I was 20, under a creative chef named Eileen. She taught me a lot about improvisational cooking and was very patient as I learned to make her recipes on my own. I had the restaurant to myself from about 5-9 PM every night, where I experimented with all the fancy ingredients and kitchen gadgets that were available to me. Eileen had a HUGE library of cookbooks and I spent a lot of time practicing with recipes in these books. I still have some of them stored in my head and use variations of them today. I nearly went to culinary school to become a chef, but Eileen and a few others told me how tough the restaurant business is; I didn’t want cooking to become a chore, so I decided to keep it as a hobby and enrolled in the Marketing program at University of Phoenix (which I finish in about 9 months!).
I began working for CHG’s Marketing department in March of 2006 as an Interactive Marketing Coordinator. When our Internet Services team recently put out word that they were looking for somebody to write for and manage HomeCookRecipes, I jumped at the opportunity. This would give me a chance to use my experience and passion for cooking and creative writing while developing my web marketing skills on a project that provides a lot of value for the company. Being a cook by hobby, I experiment with the culinary arts, but never write recipes down. I am excited to be “forced” to document my creations and share them with the world. I also look forward to receiving feedback and new ideas from the readers (you!), so please feel free to participate!
